Billie Holiday knitted Mister sweaters (Dog Bar didn't exist back then), fed him steak and even bought him a mink coat. Whenever she performed, Mister was there.
Billie Holiday faced an unusual amount of hardship and tragedy during her life. It's not uncommon for a person with that kind of background to seek the unconditional love and companionship that only dogs can provide.
And Mister was clearly an exceptional friend and protector to Billie.
